University of Peshawar sessions began in a temporary structure on the campus’s southern edge. For urgent reasons, including the Director General of Health, Col. S. M. K. Several highly powerful officials in the federal government in Peshawar were against the building of a medical college in the city. It said that the college will be shut down or downgraded to a diploma (L.S.M.F.) school after the foundation of One Unit on October 14, 1955. On that day, the four West Pakistani provinces formally unified into what is now known as One Unit or West Pakistan.

The N.W.F.P provincial assembly moved the college to the University of Peshawar to protect it from this immediate threat. Before dissolving itself, parliament completed this act. There had never before been a medical college affiliated with a university in Pakistan, therefore this was a first. Dr. Afridi’s new role as vice chancellor of the University of Peshawar will provide him the opportunity to foster the college over the next few years.

After separating from Peshawar University in 1975, it remained under the health department’s administrative supervision. The institutional management committee at the college and hospital is currently led by the Chief Executive after being granted administrative and financial independence by the Government of N.W.F.P.
